Over the years the game of craps has developed a set of unique superstitions. Here are some of
the more common craps superstitions:
Dice that leave the table will roll a seven on the next roll. The cure is to have the dealer pick up the dice so the player can use the same dice.
The touching of another persons hand by the dice is thought to result in a change in luck for the worse. The way to avoid this is to request a new set of dice from the Boxman.
Superstitious players will not use a table where no one else is playing. It is thought that the dice are cold and need handled more before they can warm up.
'Virgin' players, those who haven't rolled the dice, change the luck at the table.
Female virgins are considered good luck.
Male virgins are considered bad luck.
Female shooters are thought to bring luck to the dice.
A wrong bettor at a table will increase the odds of a seven being rolled. The more players betting wrong, the greater the odds of a seven being thrown.
You can 'hex' a table by throwing money down while someone is rolling the dice. When the dice hit the new money, they are in for a run of bad luck.
Don't disturb (touch or even talk to) a person on a good roll.
Don't enter the space between a shooter and other players while he/she's in the midst of a hot roll.
Don't mention the number seven when someone is rolling.
